Human beings have an enormous capacity for endurance. We will put up with all sorts of things because we feel we 'should', are afraid of change, or doubt our own abilities. Look at how many people dislike their jobs, struggle with relationships, or bottle up - rather than express - their feelings.

It isn't always clear what is going wrong, and so we soldier on, hoping things will sort themselves out. Eventually something has to give, and that's when working with a coach can be hugely beneficial. Most things in life are easier and more fun when they are done with someone else, and coaching can help you to achieve your goals faster and more easily than if you were working on your own. After all, if it was easy to make changes, we would all do it all the time, wouldn't we? 

Sometimes things get so bad that you end up with depression or anxiety, which can have detrimental effects on every aspect of life. Then you may need cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which is very effective in helping to challenge beliefs and assumptions and change behaviours.

I have a post-graduate diploma in CBT and spent March 2018 - March 2019 working within the NHS, as part of my training, working with clients with a range of anxieties, and depression. I also trained with CTI (Coaches Training Institute, which is accredited by the International Coach Federation) and passed their rigorous certification programme in 2005. You can find out more about CTI at www.thecoaches.com. Our coaching style is 'co-active', designed together to be flexible and creative, rather than following a rigid structure. In the same way, CBT is also a collaborative therapy, with both of us working together on your issues and how best to solve them.

I am also a Firework coach - the Firework career coaching programme takes you along a journey from knowing you aren't happy in  your present career through to having a clear vision of a career that is absolutely right, and a plan for how to create it.

I offer two specific coaching programmes to help people become more inspiring and effective leaders, and to step up to promotion and new challenges. I also work with people on career-planning, resilience in the face of a rapidly-changing workplace, the impact they have on others, updating their skills, improving their self-awareness.

If you want a bit of ad hoc coaching on specific issues, we can design that as well. 


Leadership and resilience

Time and money are at a premium these days, and many people do not receive much help in developing themselves and their roles, yet they are expected to be inspiring leaders. With a bit of guidance, most people can improve the way they work, bring more of themselves to the role, and learn to motivate others.

5 two-hour coaching sessions, designed to help you become more self-aware, understand your impact on others, listen in order to become a more confident leader, take on real responsibility and accountability. In doing all of this, you will influence and lead your colleagues and clients.

I also work with people over the course of a year to help maintain resilience, particularly pertinent in the rapidly-changing workplace and with an ever-changing workforce. A monthly, two-hour mental workout outside the workplace, covering emotional intelligence, stress management, leadership for millenials, blind-spots, how to coach and motivate, dealing with conflict, talent retention and all the other issues faced by senior management. This programme will keep you resilient and at the top of your game. I call it 'brain sustain, not brain drain'.


Promotion

Step confidently into your new role

Time being at such a premium these days, many people are promoted and then just left to get on with it, without much guidance. Although a promotion is a reward, and exciting, it involves transition, which is stressful and challenges most people's confidence.

5 two-hour coaching sessions, designed to help you gain the confidence to grasp your new responsibilities and let go of your old ones, step up to new challenges, understand your strengths and where you need to focus in order to become a stronger manager and leader.
